Teaching
I teach courses about disciplined inquiry (research and evaluation) in educaiton and the social sciences. Occasionally I also get to teach about edcational philosophy, theories, and the nature of scholarly work in education.
Research
My research is about becoming. I am interested in the ways people take on new idetities and how teaching can open possibility for more individuals to have broader access to desirable identities. Toward that end, I study ways to cultivate community in classrooms, wonder informed pedagogy, and meaning.
Making
I make stuff. Some of it is tangible, made with tools like saws, welders, sanders, 3D printers, guitars, wrenches, and the like. Some of it is abstract, made with tools like language, theories, and data. It is all necessary to being human: homo faber, homo ludens, homo spaiens spaiens, and homo mirans.
